Kotei Interactive Map – New Threat Type

L5R players,

war is brewing in the Emerald Empire. As the Clans gather their forces to try to battle the threat posed by the forces of Kali-Ma the Destroyer, the supernatural disease that plagues the land and the burning hordes of the Dark Oracle of Fire, old habits resurface. Some try to put the blame of their failings on others, speculation travels as fast as the wind and the population’s unrest starts to grow. Rumor even has it that some within the Empire are sabotaging the war effort.

Starting with this week’s map (Turn 3, Week 1), a new type of Threat will appear on the map. It will use the “danger kanji” icon and represent the different threats that can undermine the effort of the Clans, or their success.
Those Threats will appear in Home Provinces, and their “Special” effect will only affect the Clan of the Province it is appearing into. Like other Threats, everyone can try to resolve it and the Clan(s) that resolves the Threat will reap the Reward. Unlike other Threats, they do not have a set duration and will remain in play, applying their effect as long as the Clans don’t tackle them.

This Turn, each Clan will see one such Threat appear in one of his Home Provinces. It will not necessarily be the case in the future, however, as rumors, sabotage efforts and siege do not affect all Clans equally.

Nicolas is the Brand Manager of the Legend of the Five Rings CCG. He has been playing L5R since Imperial Edition. His first purchase was a Phoenix starter but he quickly traded for a Crane one and has never looked back, even though playing corrupt Crane since Gold Edition has led him to giving Shadowlands and Spider a try on various occasions.
