Forgotten Legacy Special: Story Book

Today in Forgotten Legacy Special, we will be looking at an integral part of the L5R direct to player sets: the Story Book. Legend of the Five Rings thrives on both its mechanics and its story, so it only makes sense both aspects are present in what constitutes a unique vehicle for the game. The Forgotten Legacy story, as hinted within the special fiction Dreams of Darkness and alluded to in Issue 3.7 of the Imperial Herald, is set in the year 1198 (25 years from the current storyline). Various Clan dignitaries have mysteriously disappeared and strange and so far inexplicable events are occurring both on the mainland and on the distant Colonies, leading the Empress to dispatch her First Magistrate, Doji Hakuseki, to investigate the matter.

The story book included with Forgotten Legacy is a 64 pages full color booklet, featuring art from the set, that retraces the all the events themselves, provides valuable storyline information on the individual who set everything into motion as well as his motivations which will undoubtedly have ripple effects for Rokugan across the Emperor Arc … and who knows, maybe even beyond.

Before previewing a couple of pages from the book itself in a future installment, here is the cover:

Nicolas is the Brand Manager of the Legend of the Five Rings CCG. He has been playing L5R since Imperial Edition. His first purchase was a Phoenix starter but he quickly traded for a Crane one and has never looked back, even though playing corrupt Crane since Gold Edition has led him to giving Shadowlands and Spider a try on various occasions.
