As many of you are aware, today is the day we are launching the Oracle of the Void at www.Oracleofthevoid.com. We have been waiting for our website to be upgraded to handle the traffic we are expecting with the launch of this amazing product. However, this update is taking longer than anticipated, and rather than delaying the release of the Oracle, we are going to go ahead and launch it now. Please bear with any initial sluggishness while the website upgrade is underway.
So what exactly can the Oracle can do? Here are some of the features of the Oracle.
Card Search – One of the primary functions of the Oracle is to be a database for every card in the game’s history. Every card has its image associated with it, so whether you want to see what a Jade Edition Ring of Air looked like, or see the most up to date version of a card, it will be there. It will also show the text updated for Emperor Edition wording. For those of you who play in older formats, this means no more guessing at the costs, targets, performers, and other aspects of a card that used to be implied. They are all now explicit.
Non-Card Search – The Oracle will contain other cards which have been printed in the game’s history, but were not meant for decks. Cards such as the Imperial Favor and Koku cards. While this may not be exciting to some players, other players, such as collectors, will love this feature.
These features are free and available for free to all L5R players. There will also be additional features available to all members for free with your Imperial Assembly membership.
Deck Editor – You will be able to create, save, and publish decklists on the Oracle. You can keep these decks private, or publish them for others to see.
Collection Storage – You will be able to store your entire collection of cards, virtually, in the database. This way, wherever you are, you can see the cards you own by simply hopping online and logging into the Oracle.
Haves/Wants List – You can also create a list of cards you have for trade, as well as those you want to trade for. This way the cards you are looking for (and have for trade) are always easily accessible, getting rid of a need for those clunky lists we have had to carry around for over a decade.
Other Lists – Have a favorite character you want to collect? You can do so by making your own, customizable databases. Make as many of these as you wish.
Personalized Settings – Personalize the way the data displays to suit your likings.
Print Proxies – Missing a few of the cards you need for your deck? While you wait to acquire them, print up some proxies and play with the cards today. Please note that at the time of this announcement, this is not up and running, but we hope to have it up very soon.
Please check out the FAQ on the Oracle to see just how powerful of a search engine the Oracle is. It will also help walk you through some of the other capabilities of the Oracle.
The reason why the Oracle is so amazing is due to a very dedicated team working on this project. Bryan Reese has spent over two years gathering the resources to make this happen. Brook Cunningham has been incredibly diligent in making sure all of the cards are worded and updated perfectly. Don Eisele has been incredibly hard at work making sure the Oracle is going to blow any perceptions you had of it out of the water. Brandon Snyder, Bern Pedit, and Carlo Brozzo have all helped make sure there is an image of every single card. Brandon, as well, hand transcribed every piece of flavor text in the game’s history, one card at a time. This team is a team of perfectionists who was not satisfied until the Oracle could be everything it could possibly be.
But we are not stopping now. We are going to continue to bring you great benefits for the Oracle of the Void, in the coming days, weeks, months, and years! One such feature will be automatic cross-referencing of your Haves list with other Oracle members Wants list, and vice versa, allowing you to easily find other people to trade with. This is just an example of one of the many, many features we will be programming into the Oracle for you, for FREE!
