GenCon top of clan Personalities write ups

As you know, the top of Clan players from the Main Event at GenCon 2012 will get the opportunity of choosing one Personality from a list of 10 members of the Brotherhood of Shinsei to join their Clan in a later expansion and become a prominent figure within that Clan.

Every day of this week, leading up to the Saturday Main Event, we will briefly introduce 2 eligible personalities to you so that the players earning top of Clan honors have more than a name to make the decision on who they would like to join the Clan they were representing at the tournament.

Here are the first two:

Tsiang the Benevolent

Some among the Brotherhood claim that their abbots, wizened old men themselves, were trained by Tsiang when they were but initiates into the order. The same rumors claim that Tsiang is centuries old, blessed by the Fortune of Longevity that he serves. Whether such things are true or not, it cannot be questioned that Tsiang possesses and almost unearthly wisdom and has accumulated knowledge throughout his lifetime that would shame most libraries and cause most self-professed scholars to take up the life of a wave man. When the normally reclusive Tsiang appeared to volunteer for the journey to the Colonies, it caused a shock throughout his order and the Brotherhood as a whole. Some believe that he seeks with wisdom of the Colonies to add to his own, while others point to his unprecedented involvement as an indicator of exactly how dangerous the Fudo cult is; if the great Tsiang the Benevolent considers it important to combat the influence of Fudo, should not the Brotherhood commit every resource to such an endeavor?

Sengmai the Unbreakable

If ever a mortal could be a manifestation of the essence of Osano-Wo, the Fortune of Fire and Thunder, then surely that person is Sengmai the Unbreakable. It is not so much his physical appearance and power, although he is formidable in both appearance and reality. No, Sengmai’s true strength is in the inexorable power of his will. His determination to achieve whatever goal he has set for himself is such that it seems almost supernatural. The elements themselves appear to bend to his will in order to permit him to accomplish his ends. The mortal manifestation of the Thunder Dragon is said to have granted him private audiences on no less than three occasions, a feat accomplished by no other living mortal save the Mantis Clan Champion. Now, it seems that Sengmai has set his unshakeable resolve toward ending the threat of the Fudo cult in the Colonies, and predictably, his unyielding petitions for the Brotherhood’s leadership to grant him leave to do so have been granted.

Nicolas is the Brand Manager of the Legend of the Five Rings CCG. He has been playing L5R since Imperial Edition. His first purchase was a Phoenix starter but he quickly traded for a Crane one and has never looked back, even though playing corrupt Crane since Gold Edition has led him to giving Shadowlands and Spider a try on various occasions.
