GenCon Top of Clan Personalities write ups 3

Today we unveil 2 more monks eligible for the Top of Clan prize of the Main Event at GenCon 2012.

Asukai the Tireless

It is uncommon for the Fortune of Honest Work, Ebisu, to find a great deal of worship among the samurai caste. He is, however, incredibly popular among the lower classes of Rokugan, and it is perhaps for this reason that he numbers among the Seven Fortunes. Unquestionably the most well known among Ebisu’s order within the Brotherhood is the quiet man known simply as Asukai the Tireless. His name stems from his youth, merely a handful of years after joining the Brotherhood, when he worked for days without end to aid those suffering displacement from the Destroyer War. Entire villages sprang from the efforts of Asukai and his fellow monks, although none were able to keep pace with the young brother for very long. It is alleged that the blessings of Ebisu permitted Asukai to work for more than a week without need for rest or sleep, and many who served with him in those days claim this is the truth. The Tireless one now turns his attention to the Colonies, and the many endeavors there which require his patron’s attention.

 Hamuro the Wise

Many of the Brotherhood’s greatest servants have long and storied pasts that seem the stuff of legends. By comparison, almost nothing is known about Hamuro’s past. He pays homage to no particular Fortune, instead subscribing to the tenets of the Order of Ten Thousand Fortunes, seeking wisdom from all of the Heavens. He is likewise very learned in the scriptures of the Tao of Shinsei, and possesses a broad knowledge base that can rival almost anyone in the Empire. An expert from any walk of life on any subject, from farming to history, obscure philosophies to battle tactics, can have a conversation with Hamuro on the intricacies of their subject matter. However, it is not simply scholarly learning that Hamuro possesses, but rather a way of interpreting knowledge through simple wisdom that seems to bespeak an incredibly rich grasp of the Celestial Order and the universe as a whole. It is hoped that Hamuro’s wisdom can aid those in the Colonies who have been deceived by the false promises of the Fudo cult to find the true path once more.
