Dragon Clan LetterRosanjin-sama,
I must begin this letter by expressing my most sincere grief at the
death of Lord Uso. I know it has been many months, but so far from the
Empire I do not come by news easily. He was my lord, my comrade, and my
friend. The Empire is the lesser for his passing though he could not
have chosen a finer heir.
With that said, I fear this missive must take a more critical turn.
Something must be done immediately. I have been absent from the Empire
for far too long, I know. Our clan’s interests in the City of Gold have
kept me abroad for years on end, although admittedly my personal
interests there have played a role in that as well. The few I trust as
messengers have brought back strange tidings over the months and years,
enough so that I felt it once again time to visit the land of my birth.
What I have discovered is that my work, the lore and secrets I have been
gathering for years, is being perverted and abused in the name of
destruction. I have been laboring under the assumption that it was our
mutual purpose to approach the use and study of nemuranai cautiously
until we could discover their true nature. The information I have been
compiling
was meant to aid our shugenja in deciphering their meaning. Instead I
find that countless artifacts, many of which could very well have been
benevolent in nature, have been destroyed out of fear and ignorance.
This tragedy must end. We must make right what we have allowed to be
done in the name of our petty fears and insecurities. Recall Kenzo and
his hunters, Rosanjin, I beg of you.
