The Mantis are
currently engaged in a war against the Phoenix Clan, seeking to fulfill past grudges and wipe clean current
accusations of corruption and piracy within their ranks. To make matters worse for the Mantis, Phoenix
diplomats step forward with documentation that Toturi I never officially validated their ascension to Great
Clan status. They thus make the claim that the last several decades of the Mantis Clan’s existence have
essentially amounted to an invasion of the Empire by a hostile force of masterless samurai. They further
condemn the Mantis for various acts of piracy and conspiring with gaijin. The Mantis choose not to defend
themselves in the courts, as they are already convinced by the lack of aid they have received in their war
that the Empire has already condemned them. The Daughter of Storms will continue to prove the might of her
clan through force until a better solution presents itself.
