Citizens of Rokugan and the Colonies,

We’ve been blessed with the honor of hosting the 2012 World Championship in Barcelona, Spain, from the 12th to the 14th of October. We’d like to thank AEG for this opportunity and will give our best to create an event that will be written in the Ikoma Histories in golden ink.

A union of the Kotei TOs of Spain has been assembled for the occasion to offer the knowledge and experience of some of the greatest Kotei of all Europe. We’re TO’s, but we’re also players who really love this game and we’ll give the Community what the Community wants in a huge quantity: fun, games, and party!

The Championship will be held at the Auditorium of “Cotxeres de Sants”, an amazing and really big place at the Sants neighborhood, and 5 minutes walking from the train station that communicates directly with the Airport and the main national and international train lines.

As a special treat, those in attendance will get to hear Bryan Reese announce, for the first time, the project that he has been working on for close to two years that will be launching with Emperor Edition. Keep your ears pointed to Dublin for more information.

The event will be organized by Eoin Burke, one of the most accomplished Tournament Organizer in Europe, and his team.

The L5R community of the British Isles is proud to announce that the 2011 European Championship will be hosted in Dublin, Ireland.

Where will it be?

In the D4 Hotel group in Dublin City. Accommodation is available in the hotel group itself  and other hostels in the immediate area.

When will it be?

In association with Gaelcon, Ireland’s National Convention, the European Championships will run from the 28th to the 30th of October 2011.

How do we get there?

Dublin is well served by the international airport of the same name. Among the many airlines that fly in are Aer Lingus, Ryanair and British Midlands. Why should we go?

Because this is the first European Championship in the British Isles and you know we’re going to put on a show. People who have been to our tournaments know we prioritize making sure everyone has a good time. Its a chance for the best players to come together and compete in a beautiful venue run by dedicated people.

But there is more: You are getting access to an entire gaming convention on site and if you ever need a break from gaming, the D4 hotel complex have Irish pubs DIRECTLY across from the tournament area. Not to mention the entire city of Dublin awaits you.

In short, its going to be awesome!

here is the storyline prize the players qualified for the World Championship Main Event will be fighting for in Lyon, France on November 6 and 7. 

After the tumultuous events of Death at Koten, the mortal and seemingly amnesiac Agasha Kyoso was returned to the Empire of Rokugan, virtually oblivious to all the destruction caused by her foolish and petty arrogance centuries ago. Now, after more than a year of careful debriefing and study by the Phoenix Clan, Kyoso remains in captivity, held because nothing like her has ever existed in the Empire, and even the Empress has remained silent on what her fate should be. She has been a quiet and contemplative prisoner, rarely speaking save when spoken to, and the Phoenix have determined that at present she represents little threat to the Empire.

What has happened before can easily happen again, however.

Never the most stable of individuals, extensive time alone and reading of what her grotesque failures have cost the Empire have shattered Kyoso’s mind. She believe that she is destined for pain and suffering, and that her lot is to bring devastation to the Empire. Mad beyond reason, she has determined to repeat the cycle of the past and attempt to find release in death one way or another. Kyoso has planned for months and intends to give her name willingly to another oni in hopes of creating another oni lord, this time one that will either achieve ultimate victory, or be utterly destroyed and release her from her maddened existence. Perhaps, she believe, she can even earn redemption by unleashing her true self against the demon goddess Kali-ma, and in doing so end the threat that faces the Empire.

The Clan played by the winner of this tournament will determine the clan affiliation of the hero who arrays his skill and forces against the madness of Agasha Kyoso. The winner will determine if the hero slays Kyoso to prevent the release of another oni lord, or if he will take the terrible risk of permitting her to succeed. This seems a fool’s errand, but the possibility, however remote, that the demon lord can be turned against Kali-ma… would that not be worth any price? The price will be steep indeed, not only in lives and collateral damage, but the very soul of the hero in question.

The choice is yours!

if you do not manage to qualify for the Main Event, you’ll still be able to affect the storyline by deciding the fate of fan-favorite Kuronada during the Second Chance Tournament!

Kuronada’s Destiny

The ronin Kuronada, one of the highest ranking officers of the Legion of Two Thousand, is a ronin warrior such as is rarely seen in this history of Rokugan. His victories against the Army of Fire and the Destroyers have been widely reported during this season of war, and his prowess has captured the attention of many. Although his superiors Tamago and Utagawa prefer to avoid the scrutiny of the Great Clans, Kuronada accepts their praise as his due for a duty well performed, and his amenability has not gone unnoticed.

The winning faction of this tournament will extend to Kuronada the opportunity to take the oath of fealty and join their clan. The winner may, if he so chooses, dictate that Kuronada will instead remain a ronin.

His time is now, and the choice is yours!
