Emperor Edition Draft Event

Samurai of Rokugan,

With our recent expansion into the area formerly known as the Ivory Kingdoms, we are ushering in a new era of Rokugan. In these times of peace, the Samurai in the Colonies will need an outlet for their competitive nature, just as they do here in Rokugan. Therefore, the Divine Child, long may she reign, has decreed that there are to be tournaments held at the Governor’s Estate in the Second City, to find the Samurai most worthy of the task at hand. Throughout the year, there will be more tournaments held at the Governor’s Estate, just as there will be tournaments held here in Rokugan. The first of these tournaments shall be known as In the Shadow of Greatness.

Zone Championships: Blood Feud

With the beginning of a new arc, there comes the opportunity for new stories and new legends. Among the greatest legend of Rokugan are the stories of samurai whose feuds have become the stories that parents tell their children to inspire and terrify them. Yakamo and Hitomi. Naseru and Kaneka. Noritoshi and Jimen. Now it is time for a new legend to be told.

The winners of the Pacific Rim and South American Championship will each be able to create a single new character for the faction they played during the event.

Once the two tournaments have been completed, the two winners will discuss with one another the nature of the feud between their two characters, and work with the Story Team to create the background of their rivalry. The beginning of this saga will appear in a fiction penned by the Story Team. After that… who knows how far into the story of L5R it will progress?

This year, the prize for the costume contest will not be limited to recognition at the convention, however; it will be another opportunity to affect the storyline of Rokugan!

The winner of the contest as selected by the official judges will determine the clan affiliation of the darling of the season, the samurai whose appearance in court captures the attention and the interest of virtually everyone during the Winter Court of that year.

GenCon 2011 Tournaments: The Imperial Governor

The assassination of the Imperial Governor of the Colonies has sent shockwaves throughout both the Colonies and the Empire of Rokugan. The Imperial Court of the Divine Empress has spent weeks discussing the matter, with every facet of it being carefully scrutinized and criticized. Petition after petition has been placed before the Child of Heaven, encouraging her to select particular individual or at least favor one clan over the other.
Gravely concerned about the state of affairs in the Colonies and eager to put the matter aside in order to deal with the blossoming conflict with the Naga, the Empress has made her selection as to who will enforce her will and speak with her authority within the Colonies for the foreseeable future.
