In an Empire besieged upon two sides by enemies from foreign lands, and ravaged from within by a terrible plague, the security of Rokugan is the foremost concern of the Divine Empress and her servants among the Great Clans. With patrols from the Army of Fire having been seen attacking the Crab lines from the rear on the southern front, and isolated reports of individual Destroyers being found far from the front lines in the south, concern regarding enemies afoot within the Empire itself has been mounting among the Emperor’s Chosen. The Shogun has commanded that the passes through the Spine of the World Mountains be secured against the possibility of enemy troop movement, ensuring that both battles be conducted in isolation without the possibility of further enemy collaboration.
The faction claiming the most victories in this event will determine the clan affiliation of the young hero chosen from the Imperial Legions to command the forces sent to secure the Iuchi, Seikitsu, and Shamate passes through the Spine of the World Mountains. Such an important duty will surely herald a meteoric rise through the ranks for any hero chosen for such a task.
