October 2007
Event Guardians of the Crow
Date: Sept 29, 2007
Format: Samurai Legal
Location: Chicago, IL
Race Points: 1 Military
Storyline: Reihaido Shinsei is the most venerable of all shrines to the little prophet, the man history knows only as Shinsei. Shinsei’s teachings have shaped the development of thousands of shugenja and monastic traditions, and many bushi as well. Although shrines to little prophet exist throughout the Empire, none have ever gained the special standing of Reihaido Shinsei, a shrine rumored to have been created by Shinsei himself shortly before he traveled to the Shadowlands with the Seven Thunders. The tiny shrine is nestled among the rocky crags of the coastline south of Otosan Uchi, and despite that many have spent their lifetime searching for it, its location has remained one of history’s greatest secrets.

Until now.

Special: The winner of this tournament may select any living personality currently aligned with the faction used to win the tournament. This samurai will discover the location of Reihaido Shinsei, and will lead his clan to its location. The clan will become responsible for ensuring that the shrine remains safe, and must do so without drawing attention to its location. Despite that the other clans will not know of the shrine’s secret location, the clan responsible for guarding it will gain much insight from ready access to its almost supernatural serenity.

Event The History of an Empire
Date: October 19-21, 2007
Format: Samurai Legal
Location: Leyendas, Argentina
Race Points: 2 Military (first place), 1 Military (second place)
Storyline: For over a thousand years, the dutiful samurai of Rokugan have diligently recorded the deeds of each generation’s greatest heroes, knowing full well that their descendants would wish to honor their ancestors by reciting them in years to come. Even those families that do not place great emphasis on the traditional definitions of honor remember those who have gone before. The Miya family have maintained the most extensive records, attempting to record the deeds of all the Great Clans rather than a single clan, and their efforts have been impressive. Although an individual clan’s records include more detail than the Miya, there is no greater source for comprehensive historical information. Now, in an attempt to forestall the conflicts that always seem to erupt between clans in a power vacuum, the Miya have extended the offer to the Great Clans for one among them to take t heir place alongside the Miya as the Imperial Historian.
Special: The winning player of this tournament may select any one living, non-unique personality currently aligned to the faction of the deck played to win the tournament. That personality will be appointed as the Imperial Historian, and forge a close alliance between their clan and the Miya family.
