Winner’s Choice Tournaments – MegaGame Implications

Fellow samurai,

the Empress in her great benevolence has decided that a series of tournaments will be held in various locations across our beloved Empire until the end of the year. The Kakita Artisan Academy will be honored to accept offers from governors to run tournaments in the name of the Divine Empress. During those tournaments, the best 2 participants will bring Glory to their Clan. Be prepared and claim victory for your Clan!

The Winner’s Choice tournament series for the L5R CCG has been in place for several years now, and has met great success. Quite a few stories have been generated by the menu of choices provided to winners at a Winner’s Choice event, and its general flexibility has allowed the format to be used in a wider variety of events, from sealed deck and draft tournaments at major conventions to local area tournaments held at individual gaming stores!

A new season of the Winner’s Choice Series has begun and the following traits are available:

  • Enigma
  • Eye of Shadow
  • Head Librarian
  • Iron Flower
  • Jade Hand
  • Legendary
  • Poison Fan
  • Master Sensei
  • Moon-Blessed
  • Scion of Fire
  • Sun-Blessed
  • Tiger’s Claw

Each time a Winner’s Choice tournament is held, the winner may select one of the flavor traits listed above, which will then appear on a personality card aligned to the Clan used in the tournament in a future expansion. The winner cannot choose a personality, only one of the traits. As the season advances, when a flavor trait has been chosen by a winner, it will be removed from the list (the most up-to-date list can be seen on the official AEG forums). When the list of available traits dwindles down to only a few left, we will refresh it with all new flavor trait options.

The winner of a Winner’s Choice tournament will gain 2 Glory points he can keep for the Clan he played or donate to the Empire.
The second place player will gain 1 Glory point he can only keep for the Clan he played.
