For those of you who are unfamiliar with us, the Miya family are the messengers and heralds of the Emerald Empire. After the first great war with He-Who-Must-Not-Be-named, we were tasked by Hantei I with spreading the word of the Empire's victory, and we have ever since been the record-keepers of Rokugan. We are not historians. Our task is to keep the documents, the proclamations, and the census of the Empire's clans.

We have many records in our archives, but the ones you access now have been chosen for their purity and for the depth of information they reveal about certain conflicts in the Empire.

Welcome to the Miya Archives!

Change is a good thing.

As of May 30th, 2003, these web pages have gone on hiatus. Why? Well, because I've taken on a new job. Teaching. In Shiga Prefecture. Japan. Obviously, that's a huge lifestyle change from where I'm at now, and it means I've got a lot to do before I leave in August. While I still enjoy CCG's, I'm going to have to pare my life down to two suitcases and a laptop over the next two months, all while learning Japanese. That leaves very little time for, well, anything.

I intend to take some cards with me when I go, but I'm not sure whether I'll get a chance to play until I get back, and by then who knows what may have happened? I do know I'll be dedicating myself to knew experiences for the next few years, not continuing down the same paths I've tread for years. This obviously means making some very big changes in my life.

Change #1: I'm giving up being a CCG expert. I'm done writing articles, reviewing games, and trying to play every one. No time, less interest. The Penultimate CCG Review Page isn't going anywhere, but there just won't be any more updates. To all my fellow collectors, I wish you well.

Change #2: I'm getting rid of almost all of my CCGs. Legend of the Five Rings is pretty much it. Everything else goes. This includes Magi Nation and the entire Moonlands Library section of my web page. If you're interested in picking up any of the rare and strange CCGs I've acquired over the years, keep your eye on ebay in the coming weeks. My selling ID is rpweld3.

Change #3: Even in terms of L5R, I'm trimming back what I'm going to be doing. The Miya Archives are, unfortunately, on that list. As of now, they're static and no new updates will be posted. I'm looking for a new home for them (preferably AEG), but fear not, even if that doesn't happen, they'll stay here. I've worked hard on them and I'm very proud of them. They will not be lost.

I move to Japan in August, and in the meantime I'll be busy making plans and learning basic Japanese. So, all of the web pages are effectively on hold as of now. Starting in August, expect rpweld3.com to become much more focused around sharing photos and stories with my family and friends.

Sincerely,

Miya Richard Weld
