Soon Celestial Edition 15 will be released and many players may be wondering what these old cards are all about. To celebrate L5R’s 15 years of success, we have included a 12th card into each booster pack of CE 15, free of charge. This card is a Flashback card and is one of 110 different Flashback cards in this set. Flashbacks look back at L5R’s history and shows some of the most important parts of it, both in the card game and in the story.
None of the Flashbacks are Celestial Edition legal, you will notice their lack of a Celestial bug…
…. with one exception.
Where possible, we have used the original art and the original wording on all cards. One of the best parts of the game’s history is seeing the fun way in how cards used to be worded. Did you know the original Toturi called himself two different names on his own card?
As you are going through and looking at your Flashback cards, you might start wondering why some of your favorite characters or cards are not included? There are a few things to keep in mind here. First, L5R has had lots of great cards and even better characters in the game’s history. Sadly, we only had room to fit 110 of them into this special project, which means many cool characters and cards did not make the cut. Secondly, please keep in mind that some of the older artist agreements are such that we can not reproduce their work. We had a team of life long L5R players pour over the game’s history selecting the absolute best options available, and we are sure you will be more than happy.
