War of Honor

War of Honor

War of Honor is an exciting new way to play Legend of the Five Rings, incorporating board game concepts to take the L5R CGG multiplayer experience to a whole new level. Featuring four completely built Clan decks, tiles, counters and more, as well as tiles for all the other Clans in L5R, there’s enough for anyone to start playing right away.

By the inclusion of a modular board of tiles, and changing from static victory conditions to a victory point based method, War of Honor creates a robust and exciting game, where no player need play in fear of king-making. Best of all, by taking starter decks and other cards from the L5R CCG, you can expand your experience! Simply pop open a starter deck, grab the associated Clan tiles, and you’re ready to play.

The Clans of War of Honor

Four Clans come in War of Honor and they focus on each of the four victory point methods in the game.

The Clan Tiles

At the beginning of the game, the players place Fortress Tiles along with Plains Tiles in turn. This creates a map that determines who can ally with whom during a game. Fortress tiles can be turned up or down during the game, activating and deactivating them. Manipulation of the tiles will be an important part of victory in War of Honor.

Tiles and counters are also included for the Crab, Crane, Mantis, Unicorn, and Spider Clans.

Storyline Implications

Anyone familiar with L5R knows that the fans drive the storyline, affecting the lives of the samurai of the Clans, as well as many of the new cards that are printed. War of Honor will also feature storyline events in various formats, including Current (current L5R CCG arc), Extended (current and last arc) and pure Open format (all cards). Gen Con 2011 will feature the first War of Honor storyline event. Watch for more information in the coming months!
